How does my family and I celebrate holidays?

Advertisements

My wife and I wanted to start our own family traditions in regards to celebrating the holidays. We came up with several new ideas to celebrate them.

  1. We no longer cook the “traditional” dinners that came with the holidays when we were growing up.
    • We start planning about a month out from the holiday. We usually go with foods we don’t eat all of the time.
    • For example, one year we had Shepard’s pie, green bean casserole, devil’s eggs, and a homemade peanut butter cup with ice cream on top!
  2. We watch the same movie on Christmas eve and make cookies. Then, the kids open up one gift. After the kids finish open the gifts, we sit down and drink hot chocolates and eat cookies until its bedtime!
  3. On Christmas morning, we wake up early, put on the same Christmas movie and open up gifts. Then, after we have open up all of the gifts, we make a big breakfast!
