I would make my pet understand that we miss her!
We had to put our little girl down on Oct 2024. We still think about her from time to time. We were forced to put her down because she developed a tumor that was growing bigger and bigger. The vet here in Japan couldn’t figure out what was causing the tumor to continue to grow. The tests being run didn’t help find the problem either. We faced a hard decision. We had to either let her continue to live with pain or put her out of her misery. I stood there while they injected her with drugs. I watched as the life left the body of my first child. We loved this little girl for the past 11 years. Those years were filled with many joys and a few setbacks.
While I was standing there watching this process roll out, the emotions taking over my body, I couldn’t move. I just stood there and watch the life leave her eyes. The process was quick and easy. After the she had died, the Vet walked me out and performed a Japanese bow as a sigh of respect. I appreciated that so much!

Dang, this hit me in the feels. I have been there many times myself and I like to think God gives animals the understanding that they were truly loved when their time comes. Your little girl for sure knew that.
I agree!

I remember my first experience saying goodbye. My wife and I had to pick each other off the floor. Dogs mirror what’s in our hearts, our capacity to love. It’s what makes the relationship so magical.
This was by far the worst day of my life. Walking into the vet, I knew what was going to happen but emotionally I wasn’t prepared for the next 30 minutes of my life.
