Who are some underrated people in history?

Nikola Tesla

Although Nikola Tesla has become more well-known in recent years, his contributions have long been overshadowed by his contemporaries like Thomas Edison. Tesla was an inventor and engineer who developed the alternating current (AC) electrical system, which is the basis for modern electricity distribution. His visionary ideas, including wireless communication and renewable energy, were often ahead of his time.

Rosalind Franklin

Rosalind Franklin was a British chemist and X-ray crystallographer whose work was crucial to understanding the molecular structures of DNA, RNA, viruses, coal, and graphite. Her photograph 51 provided key insights leading to the discovery of the DNA double helix structure. Despite her significant contributions, Franklin’s work was overshadowed by her male counterparts, James Watson and Francis Crick, who received the Nobel Prize for the discovery.

Mary Anning

Mary Anning was a pioneering paleontologist and fossil collector from England. Her discoveries in the Jurassic marine fossil beds contributed significantly to the field of paleontology, particularly in understanding prehistoric life. Despite her critical role in the early development of the science, Anning did not receive the recognition she deserved during her lifetime due to her gender and class.
